oh machine...typical republican. all ideology and no substance or solution. i like how you cut and paste a few parts of what i said - but did not even mention the main point i made. staying on topic - these drug tests will cost the taxpayers more money, and the drug tests are easily tricked. beyond those obvious flaws with this public policy, the result of a failed drug test results in???????? what? before you answer that - i want to say i agree with dr ray langston - we should be able to do what we want to our own bodies. i piggy back on that statement and say the war on drugs is a WASTE of tax dollars. in this country we approach drug addiction as a crime, instead of an illness. so this policy, beyond the initial problems i highlight, only has the intention to do one thing - to further criminalize drug use, rather than focusing on treatment. it aims ONLY to force extreme poverty on some people just to slightly reduce the budget deficit...when there are other alternatives. that was professional public policy discussion liberal. i could delve further but i fear i would lose you machine. so...now i go to my personalized liberal stance and will approach quickly your flawed ideology. Drug addicts who won't support them selfs should [starve]. well...that is if you view drug abuse as a crime like you do. i view it as an illness. because someone is sick, depressed, and may turn to drugs to ease their pain, does not mean they should starve. such an elitist concept that i could never rally behind. that said i know that drug abuse can lead to an abuse of government aid. which is why i stand firm when i say welfare is necessary - but that does not mean we can not reform and modify welfare to reduce abuse and improve efficiency. does that privacy you feel entitled to only apply to people with money? It applies only to people who are not on the government dole. you try to sound smart here - but fail terribly. you basically confirm what i said and re-worded it. you basically are saying that if you have money you are entitled to certain benefits of privacy among other things - but if you are poor, or in the case of a person on welfare, EXTREMELY poor - you deserve to be treated unequally. if you are on welfare you do not deserve privacy - as if extreme poverty is desirable. before you start stroking reagan and the myths of his presidency - just learn this basic fact and it might do wonders for your soul... welfare is extreme poverty. the kind of poverty i am willing to bet you have no idea about. the kind of poverty i would not wish upon anyone. you make it sound like those getting government assistance have an easy life - where everything is handed to them. wrong. they get section 8 housing (usually ghetto as hell) and a link card so they do not starve. if your idea of living in luxury is living in the ghetto and scraping up some money for groceries - well - you are stupid. If I may make an analogy, Would you keep giving someone heroin because the withdrawal symptoms suck? No you would make them go cold turkey and deal with it. Welfare seems much like heroin to me, It is intended to easy pain, and reduce suffering. In the end all it does it get most of it's users dependent on it. (or further enslaved to the government) We just need to stop the practice all together. you may make an analogy - but let me show you how analogies say and prove nothing. the example you gave - of heroin - is a choice. being born into extreme poverty with severe learning disabilities is not a choice. my prep hour is up...so i must go...but i will finish this soon. you have much to learn machine.
