Forgive me for stereotyping 3rd & 4th generation welfare recipients. There are plenty of government grants available for college. Poverty or not, these people can totally break the cycle and have a better life. But why should they when government assistance has given them free food their whole lives? When the parents have taught them how to work the system? Where exactly, do they get the money for all the tattoos and peircings? Pay attention next time you go shopping and you'll see quite a few. They're not exactly the exception. I have no way of knowing how they got to where they are. I came from a family on welfare. My father broke the cycle. I don't mind helping those in need. I would be willing to bet that the majority of 3rd & 4th generation food assistance people are perfectly capable of working, whether it's poverty level or not. If they're working, their benefits would be decreased. Drug testing? Absolutely. The folks who are laid off and need the help should pass with no problem. I would think the majority of them are out there looking for a decent job. I get the whole poverty thing and I feel for those in need. But you cannot tell me that there are not 3rd & 4th generation welfare recipients who have no desire to better themselves because they are getting a free handout from the government.
