Here is your "crazy" tea party response: 1 - drug tests cost money. drug testing everyone on welfare regularly would cost us taxpayers more money. Tests should be random and based on a percentage of recipients (say 10% for easy figures) and when you factor in the cost of welfare fraud that would be averted the cost at worst may be a wash, but the cost of averting future fraud would push it to the positive. 2 - drug tests are easy to trick. they have synthetic urine you can buy in the store, there are pills that can strip toxins from fat cells (where drugs are stored in the body in most cases) and basically there is a science to passing drug tests. so not only will the tests cost taxpayers more, but it is far from fool-proof, meaning the people who this aims to remove from government assistance will still find ways to cheat the system. Obviously, you have never been subject to testing at work. We are randomly tested and if our number comes up we are given 1 hour to report and give our sample which is tested for temperature, PH and quick screen immediately before we are allowed to leave. As for the rest of your post it merely shows your ignorance of current events and your socialist leanings. If you really want to help the down- trodden give to charity and leave the government out of the equation. As to you questions of what happens to the kids, if they are in a home where drugs are in use this is endangerment and the kids should be removed for their own good. wouldn't this kind of policy contradict your desire for less government intrusion? No it would not because the government is already involved by handing them a benefit check and grocery card, so this is not an intrusion rather protecting the interests of the taxpayers at the invitation of the recipients.
