Norad is right on, unfortunately. They don't want to hear excuses, and if you have a time clock you have to punch in, then you're really screwed. You can get fired for being even a minute late. I knew somebody who drove in to St. Louis early every day and hung out at Starbucks or Bread Company until it was time to go to work (I didn't have the money to do that). It was right down the road, but a couple of accidents in just the right spot, caused her to be late a couple of times by mere minutes. First she got a warning, then a write-up and then she was fired. I would love to say if you have one of those kinds of bosses, just get another job, but the economy these days just doesn't work that way.
