Rose, my point about the Poplar was in regard to people going to and from work in a timely manner. Those who work in downtwon St. Louis for a long time had no use of the Mckinley. A wreck on the Poplar or the King Bridge could create an hour long delay. If bosses can't understand those kinds of delays they have a problem. More importantly is the availability of emergency response. While it's true that there is a fire station in West Granite, the return to the hospital could be a problem. However, it was always like that prior to the overpass. If memory serves the only crossings knocked out right now are at 20th and Adams. Is there another? If not, there are still three crossing that would put a person back on the "right" side of the tracks. The deteriorating understructure of the overpass is years overdue. ONe of these days a fire truck is going to go over that roadway and end up falling through. Fixing things takes time but it has to be done. Your points are well taken as I hope mine are to you.
