if we attracted the best and brightest with paying them at least 100k a year plus benefits - and they still failed... i would say blaming them would be impossible...and paying them more would not be relevant... in that case i would say that education needed to be reformed in some way to better suit the needs of American youth... perhaps acting like Japan or Germany and study other culture's school systems...maybe take the best from all of them and completely revamp our school system. i think about this topic all of the time and try to think of solutions - and realize all we are currently doing is throwing some band-aids at the problem. i think raising salaries and attracting the best teachers is the more affordable drastic change we could try - rather than a complete overhaul of the system... but if we do not find the results we seek - then i think as a nation we should keep trying until we find something that works.
