"teachers are given that prep hour to grade and write lessons - but if some teachers, like the one poster you mentioned on this site, do their grading and planning at home than they have an hour to themselves." by the way - my contract never stated in any capacity what my prep time should be used for. it did stipulate that i would be paid more for my time...i was the second highest paid (and educated) teacher at my school at the time. it also said i could not leave until 30 minutes after school got out, and i had to be there 30 minutes before the kids got there...and there would be mandatory meetings. sometimes i would find out about those meetings an hour or less before school got out - and they would last until 5:30-6:00. oh i hated those days.
