A couple quick things: On going education and workshops should be mandatory during the "two" months of off time. They are mandatory. ISBE requires teachers do x number of hours of training in order to renew their certification. Depending on what their school district offers or where they do this training, sometimes teachers will be compensated for this. Teacher do not work a forty hour week if you consider their lunch, prep period and most of those I had fist hand knowledge of. Teachers usually only get 1/2 hour for lunch. Prep time is meant to be time for teachers to grade papers, write up lesson plans, etc. Even though there is one poster on here who claimed that prep time was his time to do whatever he wanted, that is simply not the case for most teachers.
