Teacher do not work a forty hour week if you consider their lunch, prep period and most of those I had fist hand knowledge of. hahahahahaha teachers work 7:30 - 3:30 5 days a week. that equals 8 hours a day/ 40 hours a week... and that does NOT include time spent grading papers, writing lesson plans, meeting and talking with parents, and attending school events and meetings... so you add that and not a single teacher - even the not as good ones work a minimum of 60 hours a week...more than most other people. most other people clock out and go home - teachers must bring their home with them. so...60 a week - x 4 weeks = 240 hours a month - lets take that by 10 months...and oh look - teachers work 2400 hours a year... and that does not include the option to teach summer school - which if a teacher does they work well over 3000 hours a year... and to be honest - there were some weeks i would work more than 60 hours...i spent weekends planning and grading... could it be any more obvious you have no idea how hard a teacher works?
