This is total b/s. Income redistribution does not create wealth. If the Government takes $10 from me and gives $2 to Joe X, he in turn spends his $2 with a business does that create wealth? No, it removes $8 from the economy and simply moves the $2 that Joe spends from one taxpayer to another. It is just a shell game with the Government as the dealer that keeps the lion's share.
that 2 dollars that joe got, along with the 2 dollars that tony got from your 10 dollars - then gets spent at the stores.
it makes perfect sense. it is called consumerism. consumers make the economy go around because as a nation we do not produce anything anymore. we are a nation of consumers. so those who own businesses profit from those spending money in their stores.
giving money to those who would otherwise not have any money empowers them as a consumer - which profits the store-owner due to an increase in sales via the larger amount of consumers.
YOU do not give YOUR 10 dollars to a poor person - YOU pay taxes and that money is spent on a VAST variety of things...including the poor.
if you have a problem with it - just consider your taxes going to roads or the military or some aspect of government that you support.
i get paid by the government to teach - and I pay taxes into the system that provides my pay-checks.
