some say that social welfare should be stopped because it is abused by SOME
And people like me would argue, welfare, is abused by most, not "some" receiving it.
they disregard the families who lost their jobs and have children - feeling like they just need to work harder so they will not starve.
You have three years unemployment pay available... (and once again, in the US nobody is starving [because of lack of food])
we have interstates and highways paid for by tax dollars, right?
Yes, our Constitution, provides for the building of roads, post offices, etc...
we have posted speed limit signs and laws to keep everyone safe and to keep traffic moving at a good pace
No nobody doubts that. Government has the authority, to regulate speed on it's road ways. (I wish it were "reasonable and prudent" more often but, moving on...)
SOME people ignore those laws and those signs, and they go faster than the speed limit allows, and even worse, some people drink and drive. this can result in fatal accidents and loss of innocent lives.
If they are caught, they do face the penalty.
by your logic - we should shut down our highways and interstates. you do not want your tax dollars going to a system that can be abused at the expense of the tax payer
The roads more than pay for themselves, Regardless of the people abusing them. If/when people are caught abusing them, they do face punishment.
so shut em down. screw all those innocent people who use the highways properly to get to work or home or wherever every day. they can fend for themselves and find other ways
You were close, but the government does has the power to post roads. The [federal] government does not have the power to create "social welfare." Should the government[s] take on the issues of "social welfare" They should then have the authority to regulate it, as they do with the highways. [aka, drug testing it's users, like they already do to commercial drivers, on the interstates]
