Are you serious? Look around, you would be in shock at the state of our country as of late. I believe if you can work you should. But there has to be jobs to work. Here is another problem I have. If you sit on your butt, you can get welfare, If your illegal, you can get welfare. If your in school trying to better yourself and make yourself more employable, you can not get welfare. WTF are you kidding me! I think the whole system need overhauling. I don't have the answers, but it seems neither does the government.
and some people work a full-time job or 2 and still live below the poverty line. some people have children and get laid off and would starve if not for the government.
yes there are all kinds who use available aid from the government. some misuse it.
i wish every home in america could have a link card.
i think the key to remember is simply this...
THESE PEOPLE WHO GET FORMS OF WELFARE FROM THE GOVERNMENT LIVE IN EXTREME POVERTY.
do you know what extreme poverty is??? i can assure you it is not pleasant.
i do not think anyone says "man screw my job, i am just gonna have tons of kids and not work to get a free check from the government" - UNLESS - they were born into that situation and that is all they know...if living in extreme poverty is commonplace.
for someone like me - i would never be able to accept extreme poverty. i could never tolerate living in housing projects and eating off a link card with no money for anything else.
as for you thinking everyone can find a job - well - i wish that were true...but one of the most basic concepts from economics is that it is impossible to be at full-employment.
if you are illegal - you can not get welfare. you can get healthcare while here, and with no money that does get paid for by american tax payers - but in order to apply for such aid one must have a valid address, and proof of citizenship.
i went to college and did not have much money - so i took out loans to pay for my college...and i took out loans to pay bills and feed myself. THE GOVERNMENT gave me that money with low interest and allow hardship forbearance when money gets tight with little hassle.
i guess to answer you...yes i am 100% serious.
i have already confessed that some people abuse the system, and i agree whole-heartedly that it can be better; but at the same time i feel it exists because it HAS to, and not every branch of our government will make profits. some things are just a burden or cost to society...and we should be thankful that we as a nation are able to do such things for our poor.
i am not a 3rd party in all of this. i pay my taxes too. i just dont feel cheated or wronged when i do because some poor person is being fed with the tax dollars i paid.
i would rather it go towards that than war any day.
