if the government did not have the power to administer aid to its own people, then how are they able to?.
I don't know, you tell me. The government has a fiduciary responsibility to follow our constitution and grant us the rights it gives us. We still have the TSA, Police set-up road blocks. etc. All flagrant violations of the "law of the land"...
in a perfect capitalist society no one would ever get laid off, businesses would never go out of business, and everyone would have a good paying job
I don't know were you got your idea of a "perfect capitalistic society" My idea of a "perfect capitalistic society" involves a mass understanding that: “There is all the difference in the world between treating people equally and attempting to make them equal.” (F.E. Hayek)
no one - except a fool - would argue that we do not need a safety net for society as whole
Well call me a fool, but i don't believe that a "safety net" is what our government was established to, or should be.
those who are desperate would likely turn to crime in order to survive. by this i mean - steal food from the store, armed robbery, or any act that would get them a nice cozy prison cell with 3 meals a day and a way to get off the street.
Thats is why we have the second amendment. It is to allow able bodied, reasonable minded people, to take care of a situation.
eliminating welfare would hurt the economy, lower our standard of living as a whole, and would provide a marginal impact on the deficit
Or it would inspire an entire class of people, to stand up and earn a wage for a change.
the largest, most wasteful limb of our government; our military.
I might not agree with all military spending.... Some militarily spending is a touch wasteful, What the military provides is well worth it, we have too much wealth, too much power, too many resources, to not have a massive military, we need to be able to repel invasion of places like China, because they want our Oil, farm land, and minerals too...
By the way the total dollar cost of the "Bush wars" is about 1.16 trillion, not "trillions"... Trillions would be what Obama spent in his first year in office (on pork).
if you were a true patriot - someone truly concerned with the direction and condition of our nation - you should examine and consider our military for cuts. we can cut more. alot more.
I'm concerned about any place we are wasting my money. In case you haven't heard... China just started building F-22 from our stolen designs, we must be able to counter this. Should those red f22s start flying this way.
I also do not take kindly to my patriotism being questioned by a socialist/neo-marxist, such as yourself.
