Finally got back to this vehicle today and programmed out the DPF and re-mapped the vehicle and it goes exceedingly well with no smoke etc.

Interesting comments have been made concerning the camshaft issue such as "no compression... engine damage....and injecting on the exhaust stroke etc." What I fail to understand is how did it fire on "Easy Start" as mentioned in my first post? Unless it was because of the injectors and the camshaft problem happened later in the workshop whilst trying to start the vehicle. Also I wonder how it got away without any engine damage.... from my limited mechanical knowledge of these engines, I would have expected the "fingers" to be damaged or dislodged at least.

Anyway. the car is fixed and now up for sale.
