Having thought about this overnight (as you do), I have thought of these points:
I cannot see how a faulty EGR valve would stop an injector supplying fuel. I watched them remove an injector (from a safe distance) and on cranking, no fuel was present.
If there is a compression issue, surely the vehicle would not fire on easy start.
The scan tool was showing 300 bar on cranking, which I understand is what is expected.
So, if my assumptions are correct, the fault must lie in the injectors not producing fuel?
