Firstly Martin, taking the time to write that post will go a long way to getting you the help you need and allow other members to understand your position. I think that if you have a thirst for more knowledge and understanding it will come naturally and you will learn something from whatever sources you care to use. The best value for money courses at the moment are the Snap On seminars. £40 for an evening with a buffet and a £20 voucher. I personally think you should persevere with the internet a bit more as there is an amazing amount of info if you take the time to look. I only need to put "automotive oscilloscope" in the You Tube search box and several hours later I'm getting tired. Other good places are the Aftermarket site and Autoinform. Even if you don't understand the whole article you will always pickup something to contribute to the learning curve. My own background is not dissimilar to yours in that when I started my business (after redundancy) I had been working on construction plant for 15 years and had no idea what this thing they said was a Lambda sensor was there for! I have been a member of this forum for many years now and must admit that I have taken more than I have given, but that is because the level of knowledge of others is miles above my own and I have often not felt confident enough to give advice. One thing for sure, and I'm know you already realise this, is that the more effort you put in, along with proper info, the more you will get out. Lastly, whatever tools and equipment you have, it will never be enough. I have been lucky in that living in a small town all the local garages to a certain extent share resources. You will just have to try and prioritise as to which tools are more important for your business. A Mityvac has been mentioned but I didn't have one for 3 years! Regards, Bryan. PS: I have also had problems with the spell checker but it seemed to work with this post.
