I am not sure where you are heading here. You seem to suggest that Martin can utilise the the vacuum pump that is fitted to the vehicle?
Yes that it true to some extent, but all that would be proven/disproven is the vacuum circuit integrity of each vacuum control system in turn. He would still be left wondering if his vacuum development is adequate.
Last time I looked I don't think I noticed a pressure gauge in a Vannete 
Lets not get too distracted by the smart arse combat that we enjoy, but remember that Martin is after some sensible direction in his quest to find the fault. To do that, he needs to establish some facts about the system in front of him.
