Queen Consorts - crimson and purple

My belief so far is that the Queen Consorts (I know the term was Queens Consort but will go with the modern flow!) wore their purple robes to and from their coronation events. I feel fairly sure this was the case for Queen Elizabeth (QM) in 1937.
However, the Tuxen painting for Queen Alexandra shows crimson robes. More investigation is needed here.
