Hello everyone. I am new to this site, and fairly new to GC. I've been a resident here for going on two years. My family and I reside at a well-known apartment complex... I will refrain from using the name, since as of now we still live there (unfortunately).
Over the past year and a half, things have only gotten worse at our establishment. They never fix ANYTHING. We've sent letters, made phone calls... nothing.
Today, we found out that it is now a Section 8 housing complex. We are livid. Now I know, some people truly need Section 8... and I am not saying that it shouldn't exist.. But I do not work my butt off 40+ hours a week, and neither does my partner so we can NOT feel safe where we live.
In the past year there's been Meth busts, other drug busts, a toddler almost died from Overdosing on his mother's methadone... Domestic violence, and the list goes on....
My partner and I are very clean, make decent money, quiet and just good tenants. We've even offered to fix things up out of our own funds if they took it off of the rent - NOPE! They said we could fix what we wanted, but they wouldn't pay for it.
So now, we pay over 750 a month to live in a slumlord's heaven.
The problem is... I've been looking for MONTHS for a new place to rent. No one has three bedrooms anymore... or even two bedrooms with a finished basement. I've been qualified to buy, but we are only staying in GC another 2 to 3 years tops. All we want is something nice, decent neighborhood, and a good landlord.
Doesn't anyone want good tenants anymore??? A family who will treat the home as their very own, make improvements and take tip top care of the home? Is there anywhere else I can search besides the newspaper or Craigslist?
I am so frustrated I could scream. To top things off, we know we won't get our deposit back - the last GOOD tenants to move out of our complex didn't get theirs back, and their apartment looked better when they moved out, than it did when they moved in!! So much for treating people well, anymore. Sigh.
