Why should a person not have a say on their working conditions?
I have plenty of say in my work place. If i don't think somethings safe, I don't do it, and nobody can make me. My boss knows I have a car in parking lot and can leave at any time. They really don't want that to happen, The downtime till i get back/replaced, is horrifically costly.
So far as safety goes, we now have OSHA.
why should a person not have a say about when they can be forced to stay late?
Some jobs require longer hours that others. Something may come up that must be taken care of now. I myself, am usually pleased to work a few extra hours a week, as the resulting extra compensation is well worth the effort.
why should a person not have a say in their retirement?
It is called saving, AKA 401k, stashing capital.
Stop needing everyone else to provide for you.
why should a person not have a say in what area they what to work? (skills and abilities apply)
In all of these situations, you have plenty of say. In the US your boss is never going to kick you in balls if you don't do something. If you don't like your Job. FIND A BETTER ONE. or suck it up and deal with it.
