Those in the teaching profession have the right to protect their wages and benefits just like anyone else.
Anyone else in a union setting. The job protection offered from the teacher's union basically guarantees NO ONE can be termianted short of anally raping one of their students in the middle of the cafeteria, wintessed by no less than three hundred. (Sorry, this is a heated subjected for me)
Newsflash: It is the unions that have systematically destroyed American industry, with their unrealistic demands being crammed down the throats of employers by their paid henchman (union officials).
If teachers are soooooo dedicated and committed to their students, then why the heck are they the first to start screaming strike?
A true and sincere educator would never disrupt the learning process by striking, or basically adding several more weeks onto their three month vacation.
Like in my "keyboarding class" scenario that you so conveniently ignored, yeah I can see Mrs. Business Teacher toiling relentlessly in that air conditioned classroom, while her students self learn on a computer program that most likely tracks their progress onto it's software and calculates their grades as well, yeah I can see where she would need union representation all right.
Because no one doing the same thing in a non-union atmosphere would be paid over thirty five thosuand a year for the same service.
Unions are a dinosaur, though I predict they will still be around when they lay me to rest, much to the detriment of all involved, mostly the students and the taxpayers.
There is not a single service worker in our local district that is not unionized, even the secretaries have a union. How screwed up is that?
Unions were not invented for what they are being used for these days. Plain and simple. And it's these unions and their ridiculous wage and benefeit demands that are sucking the life blood (money) out of district.
I hardly think our school secretaries would be forced to work in a sweat shop scenario if someone busted their union. I hardly think Mrs. Business Teacher would contract BlackLung while listening to Mavis Beacon teach her students.
