Trish, yes, a candlelight vigil would have made alot of sense for what they were trying to do. I honestly think that they were hurting, and just felt helpless and just needed to do something, anything to get over that feeling.
The kids, I get. The one that I thought was incredulous was the gal who claimed she had OD'd twice and wanted the government to do something more. I'm amazed she isn't in jail like her sister, and I would think she would be glad the government DIDN'T throw her in jail. Of course, I have no idea on the background, maybe she has tried to help, turned in her supplier, etc. So, I guess without all the facts, I probably jumped to conclusions too fast.
Maybe the kids can get those rubber wrist bands and start a club where the ones in it can promise not to do drugs, and where the bands as a symbol. They would also have the support of each other when the peer pressure wants them to do otherwise. I've seen schools do things for similar things, such as sex, or bullying, etc. Just a thought.
