Aloha, you are definitely one of the problems today. I,I,I.
First sweetie teachers fifteen years ago didn't get paid to perform playground duty or hall duty. They did it as part of their day. They also conducted the annual spelling bee, science fairs and many other types of parent involvement programs to get the parents on their side. Do you deny you now get paid for those things? The unions worked hard to get pay for those issues so get off your high horse about it.
I too worked my way through school on my own ticket. Two jobs, never off on a weekend and obtained my masters in my field. Never once after doing so did I tell my clients what a rough time I had of it. So, you're absolutely no more special than anyone out there dear.
I realize parents now days aren't as involved as they once were. That's sad but it's a fact. It's your "job" to overcome those hurdles to make the best of it. You made the choice to be in the profession, deal with it. You're the exact type that gives the profession a bad name these days.
Oh, it's not my fault. The state wants too much out of it. I'm underpaid (even though my pay scale is higher now than ever). I get no help from parents, I, I, I. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and take your responsiblility with a bit more pride and a whole lot more humility.
Some of my best and dearest friends are teachers and they would be embarassed by your little rant. You come on as a sanctimonious twit and should be ashamed of yourself. The guy on the garbage truck deserves as much respect as you hun so lay off.
