She gave him a detention because he finished his ISAT's too quickly and didn't take them seriously. The following year, at Frohardt, they tested him for the gifted program because of his high scores on that same exam he was punished for. Who's the screw up, my kid or his teacher?
your son.
think about it...the results of that ISAT test your son "finished early" or did not even attempt to take seriously - is what all of you people use to judge the quality of education. you use those low test scores to say we as teachers are screw ups.
what if at your job - you were the boss - and your performance was judged and weighed by how your workers did on a safety exam.
would you be happy if some of your workers mocked the exam and didnt take it seriously and just filled in bubbles?
what makes it worse- is that your son sounds very capable and intelligent...had he tried hard on the ISAT like he did on the gifted program exam - he would make the teacher, the school, and the nation proud...
instead his test scores will likely bring down the median and the blame will quickly be pushed on the teacher for not doing their job.
i wouldve given him 3 detentions and phoned you to let you know that your son was not trying and had no respect for something which is very important.
