Machine the key word in this last post is construed. Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak your mind against the government without retribution. It does not mean you get to offend others by your dress, or that you get to choose not to uphold the law, because you think it may be taken as a racial discrimination issue. Just because the offenders of that particular law may be made up more of one color than another does not mean we should not uphold the law - period.
We do not live in America alone but as a group of people. Attempting to bend the Constitution to encompass freedom for anything an individual wants to do is both dangerous and unconstitutional. That is why it is set up to govern for the good of the many and not the bent of all.
I am confused as to why this police chief is acting this way. Being afraid to uphold the law over an issue that has been infringing on the rights of the majority for a very long time - confuses me.
