I completely agree with you on the fact that a good school system is one of the most powerful assets that a city has. It impacts almost every aspect of our community. I also agree that these young people need to be able to contribute to the board. I do, however, challenge you and all of the other voters to hold prior teachers and the other candidates besides the younger ones to the same standard. Just "being a former teacher" doesn't cut it in my book. "Being a parent" doesn't either. We need people of all ages with different experiences on our board. I think that would make the most rewarding board. Likewise, don't go assuming that everyone has to "prove the theory wrong". I mean I agree with what you say, but I don't think it's that easy! Don't make the same mistake as the Obama election. He was voted in for many reasons but everyone expected miracles. It's going to take time for our district to combat the growing poverty rate, among many other obstacles that we have to overcome. If I was a candidate, I wouldn't campaign on changing the world...take it one step at a time you know?
