I understand what you're saying about laws and regulations regarding the hiring/firing of teachers. I also know the very loose standard by which teachers are reviewed and rated in our district. Basically if the teachers show up, don't steal, and don't sleep with their students, they cannot be dismissed. My second comment recognized that if you approached any students or their parents for that matter, they could give u a list of teachers that do NOT teach. I'm merely saying that something must be corrected in this process. I would also ascertain that the 2 Young candidates, jones and wingerter, probably have what it takes to know the good teachers from the bad. From what I've heard of them, they both were fine students, had a good report with the faculty, and are both receiving a quality upper education. To me, they are as if not more qualified to judge who should be teaching my kids and how my taxes should be used to benefit my children's education.
