I do one to two days a week at the gym of what I call "old man day." It's all core training and physical therapy exercises to help the small muscles around key joints. I call it the "old man day" because it's a deposit in my health longevity that will yield dividends when I'm an old man. Try doing a litany of PT exercises for two months on all of your critical joints before you resort to taking any sort of injections. In all likelihood your joints are probably in decent shape but decades of sedentary lifestyle has led to atrophy of the tiny muscles that make up your joint systems. If you get those right, you make the joint right.

. . . even my modest lifting routine. I am getting discouraged. I feel like my muscles are ready for heavier lifting but my joints are saying nope.
