Maybe ill try the Open Minded thing just this once and say maybe you are right Opie. Maybe this is all on the up and up and whoever was in charge of the MESD at the time of the monsoon would have had the bullseye painted on them. Im not so sure, but maybe. When i think of the effort Democrats have made to knock Adler off his perch, that lingering doubt just keeps creeping back. I know the Democrats thought they may have had him gone when Rauner stepped up and blocked the Democrats effort to reclaim the MESD. That one was hardly a slam dunk, but Rauner stumbled into doing the right thing in the end. Now onward to the next effort to take him down, after all the MESD is ours? Do politicians think that way?? LOL The people who were flooded dont care who takes the blame, as long as somebody takes the blame. During the great flood several years ago, at a Nameoki Township meeting on the subject, the main theme from the Township Chairman was to blame the village. Then when the village held a meeting they were prepared for angry citizens so they brought in an engineer to help keep things calm. The Pontoon Beach Mayor and board members put up with quite a few accusatory questions and may have reacted a bit defensive a few times but the engineer also answering questions helped. What stood out was the talking point that this is a flood plain and that flood plains sometimes flood. It was so simple and yet so true. We can tinker around the edges a bit but any real fix will cost millions of dollars that we dont have. Thank you for coming, drive safely. No law suits that i know of.
