During your conversation in Mr. Amos's,adjacent to the mayor's office office, did you ask him why there were no Economic Development Committee meetings between June 20, 2017 and September 5, 2017? I think that is a credible question to ask the mayor's right hand man, don't you? I think that is a credible question for the mayor himself. Who was economically developing during that time frame?

I agree completely we all need to change our attitudes, everyone needs to take a good look at themselves and decide if they are contributing to the implosion of this town or are they responsible property owners, who maintain there own, who shop locally whenever possible, who eat out locally whenever possible, and do they vote!

BUT until our leadership develop the same commitment as the decent, hardworking people left in this town, it is not going to happen. The slumlords don't care, they don't give a damn, the apartment building complex opi posted about is a prime example! At one time that was a beautiful complex, but now the once decorative colonial style front door trim has been removed AND NOT REPLACED facing Pontoon Road, exposing brick that shows the outline where the trim once was. They just pulled that complex up to the next level of Shitville all because the owner does not want to reinvest any of that rent money into maintenance or repair. AND THE CITY LETS THEM GET AWAY WITH THAT! NO! You are required to maintain the exterior of this property just as you are required to cut the grass. IT IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE. Look at the number of units paying rent in that place, and they cannot replace the door trim on several doors? I can't imagine what the inside of it looks like by now!

If the city refuses to force compliance on a multi-million dollar enterprise, why exactly in the hell would any other landlord comply?

I have almost given up hope. No one was happy with JM Motors infiltrating the most traveled intersection in our city, with another used car lot. No one, except Mr. Myatt. Why would the council approve such a stupid thing? Look at it now, another empty building and lot, front and center for everyone to see. Ridiculous

Until you collectively, residents, slumlords and the city administration, get on the same page about returning our city to the once beautiful place it was, we will NEVER be considered anything more than a "dirty steel town full of hillbillies" by all other surrounding cities. We are paying a mayor, an economic development director, the alderman and all the other department heads to remedy the problems, clean up the town, to make a difference. AND IT IS NOT HAPPENING!

If the city can't get it done with the help of all the people remaining here who really care, they need to ALL BE REPLACED, from the mayor down to the City Works Department, and all departments in between. It should be no different for the park district, which is a taxing body! Clean up or repair the destroyed play ground equipment, get our once famous gardens back up and growing, or get new leadership and employees to work there as well.

Our city government's job is to run, improve and maintain our city. It NOT here to provide generations of employment for a handful of families, who clearly have fallen into complacency and take their jobs for granted. Complacency and entitlement is what turns a one time "Governor's Hometown Award" recipient into an Allerton or E. St. Louis.

CITY HALL, get it done, or step aside.
