Yes, good idea. Let's let the public schools fail. Oh wait a minute, if they fail the state will take them over and run them. That' won't work as the state is already screwed up.

That would be better than the federal government.

Yes but we'll save a penny for every dollar we spend. Wait a second, if the schools go down, our property values will too so even though we'll save a few hundred on out tax bills we lose thousands on the value of our homes.

But just think, if those schools fail, we won't have all these kids running around town. Wouldn't that be good? Wait a minute, if families with kids leave all we'll have left is NOTHING.

If you can't afford to spend an extra dollar when you spend the hundred, you shouldn't spend the hundred. Our kids deserve everything we had when we were kids when it comes to schools. This is a county initiative and will be law. It very clearly states that it can only be used for infrastructure improvements, not salaries as someone complained about. Read the proposal and educate yourself.

Far more money is spent on schools now than at any other point in history. They continue to dive. no amount of money spent will improve them. Only a change of philosophy can do that.

The Granite district will be receiving money from a pool that includes our neighbors up the hill. People voted down the tax increase a couple of years ago and then threw a fit when the school board borrowed money and raised your taxes anyway. We are charged in his country with the responsibility of educating our young.

You mean when the schools stole the money. It will never be paid back.

If this fails again, please don't gripe about school properties being in bad shape. Please don't gripe when people who can afford it move out because they don't want their kids in buildings with leaky roofs. Just look yourself in the mirror and say, "Yeah but I saved ten cents on my Budweiser 12 pack".

But most of it won't be spent on the kids or buildings. It never has and never will. Just like most taxes that are collected, they are diverted to other coffers.

    My house will vote yes.

And this is one of the reasons why conservatives and libertarians are leaving Illinois in droves.
