You could never introduce corporal punishment back in today's school environment. Never.

And I believe back in my day it was a huge deterrent for a majority of the kids. But the thought of a SIX YEAR OLD getting a paddling over this incident is ludicrous. It's probably good that you changed careers.

I have thought and rethought about this entire mess. First off, Jim Greenwald should NOT have stuck his neck out in the interview with KMOV. A card laid, is a card played, and if he found out this afternoon that this IS NOT how things happened, what are the odds he would backstroke publicly? ZIP

Believe me I get it, it was the second time since school began this year that a reporter and camera crew came beating at the door of the Board of Education expecting answers about something negative in our district. Two times in six weeks. I'm sure that put him into "pucker mode" where he relayed probably exactly what he had been told by Mark Lull. But he twisted it just enough, or again repeated it exactly as it was told to him by a principal under the gun, so to speak, to make it sound like this six year old first grader had A RECORD of being late. He didn't say late to what! He made it sound like he was tardy to school.

He should have just told the reporters he had not had time to speak with the parents nor all involved. PERIOD. He should have said it was still being looked in to. But we don't do that here, it is automatically deny, deny, deny.

How long has Mark Lull been a principal? Did he overreact with this father? Most everyone has seen the footage of the interview, did he look like a raving lunatic? This father openly admitted that he left the office without signing out his child, after unsuccessfully talking with Mr. Lull, went directly to the classroom to gather his son, which is clearly against the rules. He admitted that.

These are respectable young parents, who live in a very nice home, who present well when interviewed. The father has served his country, as has his father. These people are not slouches and the mother's original question to other mothers asking "when or how the procedure for lunch at Maryville had been changed" was just that. Apparently it went from one way to another, and from what I've read this boy was not the only student missing lunch. I heard that separately from another source. What is to be expected if a six year child is taught for five or six weeks that this is the way we do something, then to change that way to some kind of "sign" signal...I don't think they can even read at that age.

I'll cut to the chase. This kid NEVER ate lunch that day. He was given a fruit cup and he ate that in the library. Surely there is video to prove or disprove this, just as there is video that would substantiate Mark Lull's need to involve law enforcement.

Greenwald believed Lull, Lull believed this child's teacher, who apparently sent him to the office after he, himself told her he hadn't had lunch, and then you have WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING THESE CHILDREN INTO THE CAFETERIA, are we too assume this is Allayna Carnahan who lists her job as substitute teacher for Granite City School District #9? The same Allayna Carnahan who publicly called this child's parents liars in social media?

I'll tell you what...that's where I would think this mess began. With someone wanting to protect her job and willing to say anything to make sure she had. Maybe they should redo her background check, that's all I'm saying. Take it for what's worth.

These kid's are now in private school. They are not returning to our school system. And because of what?

I have my theory, but here ends my rant.
