I hear you Bob. I have never been a good reader, as I suffer from dyslexia. So I often good things twisted in my head. But, I can see that this thread of comments has gotten so expansive that it's really hard to follow what I've been saying. So I'll try to summarize.

I never said we need to force teachers to live here or write something into their contracts about it. I just feel (and I was using the band as a small sample because of their recent proposed budget cuts) no remorse for those who don't help their own cause by paying taxes here. I hope that everyone here uses the services provided by their employer. It's just smart.

Also, I'm sure I made a poor case for it, but I was trying to insinuate that if nothing changes, how can we expect different results next year? I named my post "Now What?" because if layoffs and school closings are the norm now, why celebrate the fact that we saved a program that will just be back on the chopping block again next year?

But you know, the more I think about it, the more I think that the board cutting general music classes is probably a better way to go. I remember my music classes. A teacher rolls a rickety cart into the classroom and plays some junk classical music and tells you to draw a picture of what it makes you feel. So it's drawing class?

As far as my cold fries comment, that was in response to a ridiculous post that someone made suggesting that anyone who doesn't like what the teachers do should quit their job and become teachers. That was such a ridiculous statement that I replied with a statement lampooning that logic by stating that if people don't like what they do at McDonalds, you should quit your day job and start cooking fries.

So like I said, this thread has become quite convoluted over time. If anyone would like to carry on discussions, I will be more than happy to talk via private message. I will not be continuing this discussion in the public forum because, like I said, it's gone in too many directions to follow.
