    I think the point is they, the teachers, are paid in large part from local taxes. It's the old put back on the table part of what you take.

    As for the teachers getting their masters? I would hope most educators feel that is an important step but you should also know, unless things have changed, that Granite City pays for the teacher's continuing education. Some get their master for the sheer movement on the pay schedule.

    As for your comment about people bitc****? That's the same for all professions. Lawyers, doctors, sales people? They all hear complaining so that dog doesn't hunt.

    One other point that itsup2you makes, and I feel it's a good one. What does it say to parents of children in the school when they see their teacher's kids in another district or parochial school? To me it says, "Granite schools are great for pay but not good enough for my kid". That may not be the case in all scenarios but I bet it is in some.
