I personally give little credit to polls...but if i did actually respect them i would point out most people blame republicans for this shutdown. 54% of republicans disapprove with the teapublican house.
I will agree that the website has had problems, but in the first day 8 million unique accounts were started (but unable to finish due to troubles.) I accept that the transition may be rocky, however the moral obligation and civil duty to each other is stalwart.
You joke about the possibility of a mortgage act, which i think is a good idea as well...but such an idea is not akin to healthcare reform because we already make discrimination illegal in real estate. If people are bankrupted for owning a home, they most likely made a bad financial decision or got suckered into a predatory loan. When you get cancer, it is not involve being suckered or bad choices...it happens. No one should be bankrupted for being sick.
I know it is just a tv show, but look at breaking bad. what was the underlying reason for his decision to do illegal and immoral things? He had cancer and did not want to leave his family bankrupted.
I personally know many people who were denied access to insurance because they had a thyroid problem, or cancer, or diabetes. The list of pre-existing conditions is long, and the consequences of allowing this to take place was dire for the country and individuals in pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
