love how after all these years, you still put words in my mouth.
"I don't get it. Now Lib, would say that's because I'm stupid. Others might say it's because I never needed a handout and always paid my way. "
wow.
truth is, the government only added regulation where it was needed and attempts to remedy the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in this country through insuring those otherwise denied or unable to get insurance. under the new regulations, preventative care is covered for free and no one can be denied or discriminated against for any reason. it may take an appeal for some procedures but anything found to be concerning your health will now be forced to be approved. the government is making this happen and companies should be happy their workers will miss less time from work for being ill.
the regulations were added to give people what we deserve and want. Sure, it will be taken out on the workers to prove a point but that is not the fault of the government.
i say let it get in the budget and if it is a debacle, then we can all say "told ya so!" to democrats. If this is the case, and the Republican party can put out good candidates they can then have all the powers they need to de-fund it.
just know that the people these employers are refusing to cover can still likely be covered through this policy anyway, because the wages these places pay are so low that people working still live in poverty and can even take a bronze package that has a monthly premium of $0.00. granted, if you get sick you pay more out of pocket, but this policy places caps on out of pocket expenses and is a good thing, as i originally came on this site and debated many years ago.
you may call it a handout, i call it progress.
as a liberal, i would like to see the law improved after some time and learning...then again, i think this way about all social policies. we can always be better.
stay classy old man, our generation has ya covered.
