OK, I do not approve of illegal immigration in the least, and we should never pass any amnesty laws to reward people getting into this country illegally. I also think companies should face stronger penalties (and the laws should be enforced more often against them).

I do however, understand why they are entering illegally, it's because most can't enter illegally, we have many immigration laws on our books that are antiquated and impose caps on how many people can enter the US and from which countries legally each year. I think those old laws should be done away with, then have National Guard on our borders to seal them. I have no issue with the numbers of immigrants entering our country, but it concerns me that they are entering illegally, because is a major security risk to our nation, sure most just want to come here for more economic opportunities, and raise a family, but along with them, anyone else can enter, drug cartel members, terrorists, and who knows who else? Also, the tax revenue lost from many of them working under the table for cash causes a drain on our economy and society.

(Yes, many companies do that, I worked for a temp company that used to pay illegals $5 an hour, while the corporation paying for the temps paid the temp company over $20 an hour, they were later banned by that company, and raided by the feds).

What I would support is truly securing the borders, put more teeth into the laws against companies hiring illegals, and actually enforce those laws for a change, then repeal immigration limits, and start screening people who want to enter the US.

For instance, allow those in who want to enter legally after a 30-60 day waiting period, their background would be throughly researched, and only those with recent felony convictions or cartel or militant connections would be denied.
Also make learning English a requirement for staying in the country...

If illegal immigration won't be tolerated, and it becomes far easier to enter, the illegals will leave, and try to come back the right way, and pay taxes. At least we know who is here in the country then...
