The Queen wore an elegant daytime outfit, but was criticized for not appearing in her Coronation gown. She did wear the gown for Parliamentary openings in some of the Commonwealth countries.
Since Scotland has its own ancient crown and history of monarchy, which the former British territories that are now independent members of the Commonwealth do not, and since the Stone of Scone is back in Scotland, I would guess there will be a move to put the Scottish crown on the head of King Charles, even if the United Kingdom does not split. It would in any event be more graceful that way!
