I agree that all families aren't that screwed up, thank the good Lord.
But it's unfair for any child to be raised believing they will get their way in all things in life. And when they do not, and they experience disappointment for the first time, it throws them for a loop and they can't cope. They just cannot believe it.
Never when I was in school did I require a "safe space" to be alone with my thoughts and regroup while being petted with soothing music and served hot chocolate.
