I guess it's a matter of opinion. It sure would have helped to located some lost children who has been dropped off at the wrong locations. There were a group of kindergarten kids that had been dropped off in front of a school that has been closed for a couple of years. If they would have had to scan their ID's when exiting the bus, then at least the school district would have known the location of their drop off and could have located them. There were several children that the district had lost and they had no clue if the child had ever got on the bus to begin with and if so, what bus they got on. Scanned ID's would allow the district to know exactly what child had scanned on a bus, the exact bus they scanned onto, and the exact location it scanned for their drop off or whether they were still on the bus, never being scanned off. A system like this, would not correct the problem of the buses running late, or being overfilled. But, it would correct the most important problem of all, and that is a child not being able to be located while in their care. If you have never had children, you can't possibly understand the fear that a parent or grandparent experiences from not knowing where your child is.
