I remember when my youngest was in school the high schoolers had to wear their ID tag and if caught without it, they were sent to the office. I was told that policy was eliminated because it was "keeping the principals too busy dealing with the non-compliant kids". Several years ago they instituted a more strict dress code because they couldn't enforce the one that was too easy. Now, a few years later they abandon that because the office was too swamped with kids who didn't follow the new rule. I'm sure the administration and staff was upset about the lost kids the first day and I applaud Greenwald for taking responsibility. However, when bus drivers are so poorly trained that they would be negligent enough to drop kids off at a closed school, something is wrong somewhere and it can't always go back to " we don't have time or manpower". I would guess there are systems in place that allow on board communications between the busses and the district. If not, there should be. A missing child is one of the scariest things that a parent can go through. It's why we have things like Amber alerts now. Machine, if you don't get that, you're just plain ignorant.
