What disgusts me nowadays is the money being thrown at these candidates. Came to a conclusion this is out of control in 1992, when a friend of mine was running for the 55th Senate seat here in Illinois. On election night, I learned the challenger spent more than 200K on his campaign, his incumbent opponent at least 600K. Nearly a million dollars on a silly-aXXed Senate seat that was paying some 55-57K/yr.
