Remember when lenders were making loans to anyone with a pulse?
Let's put that blame where it is due. Where was the personal responsibility and common sense of people who over committed to purchasing those homes? They committed a high percentage of their income to those mortgages, probably never thinking about the taxes, insurance, utilities and upkeep that came with them. Go to the realtor pages and see some of the homes in foreclosure. They're not the 60 and 70 thousand dollar homes. They're the 250 thousand dollar ones out in places like Emerald Meadows. Bankers made the deal attractive. Fools signed onto the deal and then walked away from their responsibility. Government can't fix stupid.
