i do see where you are coming from, but... im already in RT school. (i have my BLS, ACLS, and PALS, will be doing NRP next month.) i plan to work strictly in an ICU. you'd be surprised at the things ive learned in RT school that i wont actually "DO" in practice. (ie interpreting 12 lead EKGs for one, lol) i feel that my RT schooling and experience will complement my future AA schooling. i dont plan to be the typical RT who just does a neb tx/vent check.
i do agree that critical care experience is highly important. if you look around many AAs were former RRTs working beside RNs in the units.
