There are different ways to handle code blues. One is ACLS that requires swift decisions, with or without MDA's. Anesthesia schools train students for their ACLS. ACLS does not require the presence of MD's. Even nurses can do ACLS when doctors are not around.
Second, code blue can be addressed through preventive measures. Anesthesia is really about prevention. Do adequate assessments and monitoring. Give the right drugs. Anesthesia schools train students to learn all these.
Code blues should not deter you from pursuing your career goals.
