Thank you Dick-I am leaving this afternoon (Fri 17 Oct.) and will re-visit the gun. I think Mr. Murphy is right- the $2000 asking price is fair in the condition and if the rib matting on the raised ventilated rib is identical to that of the top barrel rib-plus the ejectors certainly increase the value I should think. I would rather spend the $2K to obtain this older quality Smith ejector gun than, just for the sake of the discussion at hand here, spend $1500 for a post 1913 mfg. Smith and the rest for the 1907 replica L.C. Smith catalogue as currently listed on the E-Bay website. Should I purchase the older 2E with the rib, I will take as detailed fotos as I can with a 35mm disposable camera and then send them to Chris B., so that he may post them on the LCSCA site for all paid up members to see.
