I think I may buy this gun-then I will try to get someone with a digtal camera and picture printer, and I will then submit all the details on it I can- The only thing that concerns me is this: My 1907 Grade 2E- when I dis-assemble it, and push the top lever trip pin- the top lever swings back, and stays to the right of TDC of the tang-by a few degrees-on this apparently older Smith, when I did this yesterday, the top lever would move past TDC a few more degrees to the LEFT of center- BUT-when the barrels were reassembled to the frame(w/o the forearm in place)the lever stayed to the Right of TDC-and there was no wobble on play when trying to move the barrels "in battery" and with the 32" tubes plus the added weight of the ventilated rib-there would seem to be a "leverage" factor- I tested the safety, sears and ejectors with snap caps (A-Zoom) and it functions perfectly- the gunsmith says 3" chambers and Full right tube and Extra Full left tube- I woudl only shoot either the special low pressure Hevi-Shot 2 and 3/4" special loads for vintage guns as sold by Cabela's- and possibly Fiocchi or Federal Gold Medal target loads- No cracks or splits in the stock anywhere-either lockplate or top or lower tangs- no case colors to speak of- but the checking is of a "coarser pattern" than on my 1907 2E- Thanks to all of you for the insight- I prefer to invest in the older pre-1913 mfg. Smith shotguns, I just didn't realize the age of this one- When did Smith develop the ejectors? Are they mechanically the same regardless of being (1) Syracuse NY gun, as this one seems to be (2)The first series of Fulton guns, ie: my 1907 Grade 2, and of course, the later series-looks like I need to get the Brophy book and do some "boning up"- am also looking at a Grade 00 20 gauge with DT and ejectors-owner says it was made in 1911-but I haven't seen it or know the serial number- would a 20 bore be on the FW series frame? Thank you one and all.
