By the time I was out of three corner pants, V L & A was the Chicago branch of Abercrombie and Fitch, not an independent entity. The Von Lengerkes were New York sporting good dealers in the early days and also competition pigeon and clay target shooters. The name Von Lengerke was prominent in the competitor and winner's list at major and minor shotgun competitions as well as sponsors of such competitions. I believe that early Von Lengerkes held board positions in the Interstate Association, the first clay target shooting organization and the predecessor to the ATA. Early V L & D and Abercrombie and Fitch gun sales records are being studied and organized at this time. V L & A records may also be included in this research but I am not sure.
