I think most households with multiple adults under one roof would vote very similar, not out of subordination, but more of like minds. Your daughter does not have a dog in this fight for two reasons, first being she has never had to deal with property taxes and secondly, as you stated many times, she attended private school. I'm not saying she should not have a vote, but I am saying with her inexperience and age it is most likely a vote that will support her father's beliefs and opinion. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, it's kitchen table politics and every educated family hopefully has these discussions. My wife and two of my three children will be voting no, while one is still on the fence. The reason you are saying " Most of our taxes has gone down the last 4 or 5 years" is because the value of your property is going down with them. This is part of the fallout when you have a school district that spends beyond their means. The answer is not to hand over more money. The answer is to hold them accountable and force them into making hard decisions to correct their mistakes. I have paid my dues and had my turn at the helm and there comes a time when we have to step aside and trust those behind us can carry on and move us forward in a positive direction. So, young man, when you tell me to get off my ass and get involved that is a typical and predictable disrespectful response from someone who simply has nothing better to offer. I have been involved and served beyond my duty longer than you have been alive. Look at the financial history of the district. Even while on the brink of financial disaster they KEPT handing out salary increases. Not just a dollar an hour raise or a two dollar an hour raise, there were employees that received five thousand dollars a year or more salary increases! Even knowing that eliminating some programs would be a result, even knowing that employees would have to be let go and lose their jobs, even knowing that the children of this city were being taught from out dated text books, knowing all of this , they STILL HANDED OUT RAISES! The old saying goes, the more money you make, is the more money you spend and that holds very true with our school district. This situation will never change as long as they hold their hands out for more money and we as the tax payers hand it over. Hold them accountable for their poor choices.
