FAir point and there are some things I can't help but buy in other towns. Yours truly is no less guilty. I will not go to another town's Wal Mart, K-Mart, or Ravanellis - Schnucks or Shop N Save. I mean there are people who are my blood who do things like that...and don't give a fair shake to the local businesses that are left. Good for all the people that are not that way. I cannot buy clothes in this town either, although I have added some K-Mart shirts and people cannot tell the difference..some even compliment my K-Mart shirts. I agree with you about the hardship of having to go to other places. But when a new guy tries to make it, they never last long. It's part of our economy, every town has problems keeping nice and locally owned businesses open. Everything has gone the way of chains, and then chains don't always have locations everywhere. I only get this way about people who say 'Oh the Wal Mart in .... is better' or 'I'd rather to go that Applebees...' And I think "Seriously, is everything located here really crap, or is it peoples' attitudes .. or did they just happen to sit next to some people with less than stellar manners?" It is hard for me to complete Christmas shopping in GC and hard for me to even get the things i need without going somewhere else..especially clothing and shoes. But the facetiousness of me comes in, because so many people have tried to make a go and their businesses failed. Some of it could have been people wanting to get rich without investing in their business, or people just not offering a good product. So want the customers and don't want to do the work. But I do not disagree with you about the difficulty to keep money here. I just wish that more people considered patronizing what remains and give the new people a chance as well. Oh - and most of the barber shops -- that would be a good business for someone - open a good old style barber shop. No one ever left the trade for lack of business - most closed because they got too old, smoked too much, or died before they could go out of business. No one ever replaced these guys.
